Christoph is a Development Economist and Strategic Leader with extensive experience in organizational development, renewable energy, and development finance. His work has taken him across Latin America, Asia, and Africa, where he co-led the design, implementation, and growth of projects in sectors including microfinance, energy access, and agroforestry.

He has held senior leadership positions, including serving as Managing Director of the Fig Tree Foundation and Executive Director of Light Up The World (LUTW). With LUTW, Christoph amassed deep experience in climate finance, with over a decade of hands-on involvement overseeing the deployment of battery-based solar energy systems across 17 countries. He led the process of designing financial mechanisms with local partners and project funders to advance these projects, providing access to energy and helping communities both mitigate and adapt to climate change. Notably, he launched a social enterprise start-up selling Pay As You Go (PAYG) solar home systems in Peru and spearheaded the development of an innovative solar training program, providing technical training for thousands of people across the Americas.

Christoph holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Development Economics and Policy from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) with a major in Finance from the University of Calgary. Passionate about education, Christoph has designed and delivered seminars on topics such as microfinance, public finance, and battery-based solar energy systems. He co-teaches the interdisciplinary course, ‘Humanitarian Engineering’ at UBC.
