Développement international Desjardins (DID)

Established in 1970 as a not-for-profit organisation, Développement international Desjardins (DID) is a component of Desjardins Group, the leading financial cooperative in North America. DID’s mission is to empower disadvantaged populations in developing and emerging countries through financial inclusion and education. Its inclusive finance initiatives include technical assistance and investment.

Technical assistance: DID partners with various donors to carry out projects with high added value for the targeted populations. DID’s interventions adopt a comprehensive approach for greater outreach and lasting impact:

  • They support financial institutions to help them better fulfill their mission and meet the challenges they face.

  • They provide the women and men who do business with these institutions with the tools and knowledge they need to better control and use financial services.

  • They help governments make public policy more responsive to people and their needs, and to make the financial ecosystem more supportive of their empowerment.

Investment: DID offers financial institutions a source of capital to be used for financing and investment. Its goal is to help these institutions pursue their growth, strengthen their governance, and provide disadvantaged populations better access to financial services.
